Spring often inspires going on a lot of walks in an attempt to thaw away the brutal cold (both existential and otherwise), and replace the ice with cherry blossoms and t-shirts. When out and about, it seems though that you can’t walk anywhere in Philly without seeing a flyer with Lady Prowl’s name on it. The name is known by many and synonymous with local Underground figurehead Elena Nestico. A punk at heart and longtime raver, producer, artist, DJ, and fellow radio host on her show “Dissociated” on Great Circles radio (which I had the great honor of guesting on last month). A longtime Philly resident, Elena has sculpted out her strong influence in the city of brotherly love not only creatively but as a familiar face on the dancefloor. One of the things I love most about Elena as a DJ is her ability to play deep and wide across the musical spectrum. Everytime I see her play, the mood is on the nose, the blends are slick and interesting, and the selection is deep and seemingly always from a place of great love and obsession with sound. I am deeply excited to hear what’s in her bag this Sunday when we go shoulder to shoulder from 4-6 on the Belly Music program, only on Particle.FM.
